Omaha Country Club
Quick Quotes
Q. You finished plus 1. Just how did the course play for you today?
MARK O'MEARA: Listen, it's a tough golf course. Omaha Country Club is very difficult. The rough is extremely deep and thick, and if you don't drive the ball in the fairway, you're not going to play well around here. Luckily, I drove it fairly decent. I made some good saves when I missed a couple of greens.
Disappointed in my finish. Hit a good drive on 9, got a 6-iron to the green, and fatted short, so that wasn't very good. I just need to work on my iron play a little bit.
Q. Tell me about the challenge on the holes 8, 10, and 12.
MARK O'MEARA: The 8th hole is the long hole, but they moved the tee up today, which is nice, but the pin was still back. It's one of those holes that it's premium to put the ball on the fairway. If you don't, you'll have a long second shot in there. Par is a great score on 8.
Number 10 is probably one of the hardest par-4s -- it's really a par-5, but we play it as a par-4. Today, fortunately, I hit a really good drive and knocked it on the green and had a birdie putt. So that was really good.
12 has been playing a little bit downwind, so it's been a little bit more accessible for the players, although I made a bogey there today on 12. There's not too many easy holes on this golf course.
Q. Any game plan for the next round?
MARK O'MEARA: Get a little rest and maybe hit some irons on the range, try to get my iron game a little bit better for tomorrow. Then go out there and try to get a good score tomorrow, maybe get it under par. We'll see what happens.
