Quick Quotes
Q. So you have to feel pretty pleased, first Senior Open and you're in pretty good shape here.
TODD WHITE: Yeah, first Senior Open, looks like I'm going to make the cut. So goal one is accomplished. I've got two more days to enjoy this place. I'm having a blast. Golf course is wonderful, and hospitality has been tremendous. I guess I now know why Peyton Manning kept saying Omaha at the line of scrimmage. Who wouldn't want to come here? The support from the community and the club itself has been a great experience so far.
Q. What has been good about your game the first two days here?
TODD WHITE: I've really managed to keep the ball in play off the tee. This rough, from what I understand, is considerably thicker than it was eight years ago. It's very penal if you hit it in the rough. But I managed to put the ball in play, and I've kept the ball below the hole with putts. I think that's the key to playing well here.
Q. What would you like to do better as you progress into the weekend?
TODD WHITE: I would like to putt a little better. I caught myself a couple of times out there putting very defensively because I'd be pin high, and if you're pin high, there's so much break that you have to play in some of the putts. I'd like to position myself a little bit better where I can putt a little more aggressively.
Q. You've had a lot of golf experiences, played on a Walker Cup team, won a U.S. Amateur four ball, played in Mid-Amateurs, even the U.S. Open. How did that prepare you for this moment?
TODD WHITE: Just whenever the USGA flag goes up, no matter where you are, you know it's a major championship. So you draw on previous experiences you've had in USGA events. You know this setup is going to be difficult. I think the biggest thing is playing in the number of USGA events is the patience that it's taught me. Understanding that, hey, look, I bogeyed the first hole out of the gate today, which is a 500-yard par-4, so I guess I can be forgiven a little bit.
You understand, hey, there's 17 more opportunities out there. Don't press. Just let it come to you and stay the course, stay steady, which as you well know, the setups here call for that.
