Quick Quotes
Q. You must be pleased with the way it's going?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: Yeah, very. Lots of fairways, lots of greens, limiting the mistakes, playing to the fat side, give yourself if you're out of position. That's been the big thing. It's not really been a flurry of birdies, just been slow and steady and throwing them in there every other hole. Yeah, it's been a good day.
Q. Front nine was good?
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: Front nine was very good. Played really solid and like I say, just no mistakes, and I think that's been the big thing for me. Don't know what everyone else is on bogeys, but I feel I've got to be up there.
Q. Do you sometimes question the rules of physics when balls don't drop? There was a putt on the first.
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: It's golf. It can be very random. It's the way it is. I also had one on the first hole where it came off the putter and I thought it had missed. I was walking it out and thought it missed and somehow it found its with a I in the hole. Yeah, swings in roundabouts. You win some, you lose some.
Q. You're where you want to be now going into the weekend.
MATTHEW FITZPATRICK: Yes, yes and no. I don't want to be too close because I'm trying to get to that final on Sunday. No, I'm kidding. To finish ten, I was hoping I was going to be able to squeeze out 11 after my birdie on 10. I was hoping I was going to be able to get there but faster and obviously didn't get there in the end.
But yeah, perfect place to be, not too close. It's always nice to be there or thereabouts, and yeah, to go into the weekend with only a shot back is always good.
