Quick Quotes
Q. Your first Senior U.S. Open. How are the emotions kind of leading into round 1?
MIKE WEIR: I was excited to get started. It's a good test out here. It's a true U.S. Open. We have some demanding greens, demanding to hit the fairways because the roughs are very, very deep. I thought it was a great test out there to win this.
Q. Looking back on round 1, what do you feel your biggest strengths were?
MIKE WEIR: My strengths were iron play. I drove it okay. I didn't putt very good at all. I had three three-putts today, so that was disappointing. So I'll go try to sharpen that up, but my iron play was really good.
Q. That kind of leads me into my next question. What's one thing you want to dial back in for tomorrow?
MIKE WEIR: I want to get my putting dialed back in. I've been struggling for a few weeks now. It was nice to make a little save on the last hole. Even that little three footer, I missed three of those today. It was nice to make that on the last hole. Sharpen that up and be good to go for tomorrow.
Q. You went birdie on 5, birdie on 6. On the back nine heading in, how does that give you confidence?
MIKE WEIR: That gave me momentum. I had two bad three-putts on the front nine on 1, and then 3, hit it close on 4 and missed it, then hit it very close on 5 and made a nice putt on 6. It was nice to see a good putt go in on 6. That was good. That was some momentum.
