Quick Quotes
Q. Welcome back. Has this week or coming into this week, has it been any different? What do you see differently from the last time you were here?
KENNY PERRY: I'm eight years older. I'm 60. I'm not 52 anymore, and it's a lot harder to walk out here. The hills kind of had me a little bit. I was kind of gasping a little, but I made it. Good round, 71. Birdied the first two holes out of the gate, and I thought uh-oh, here we go, and I didn't make another birdie since. I just kind of grinded it out, so hopefully tomorrow we turn around and get going again.
Q. How would you rate your overall round today?
KENNY PERRY: I'd call it a B. It wasn't super good, but it wasn't bad. It was one of those kind of rounds where I didn't quite have -- my irons weren't as sharp as they should have been. I drove it good. I didn't hit my irons too good. Hopefully we can work on that on the range and be a little sharper tomorrow and crisper and hit towards the hole.
Q. Did the course play the way you were expecting it to?
KENNY PERRY: It played very similar to the way it played in '13. Kind of reminiscing a little bit out there. On a couple holes, I had the exact same yardage to a similar pin. Even though the greens are a little different, kind of reshaped them a bit and they're a little faster, but I had some flashbacks out there, which was pretty cool.
Q. What are you looking to improve on going forward?
KENNY PERRY: Like I said, I've got to hit my irons better and figure out somehow to shoot under par. All of a sudden, KENNY PERRY is 6-under out there, and there's others going 4 and 3. They're shooting lower than I thought they were going to shoot, but that's typical. Every time I say something, it's always ten shots lower than what I think. So I've got to figure out a way to play better and catch more. We've got to get after them.
