VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA LPGA TEXAS CLASSIC

July 3, 2021

Ana Belac

The Colony, Texas, USA

Old American Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Joined by Ana Belac after a 3-under par 68 in the third round of the Volunteers of America Classic. Six birdies today, and they came at critical points. Followed up a bogey with a birdie and maintained kind of some momentum. How did it feel out there back and forth on the scorecard?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, I mean, I was definitely getting kind of tired later in the day, especially having played nine holes in the morning after the delay yesterday.

So I just tried to stay present as much as I could. I complained to my caddie on 16 that I was a little bit tired after chunking my tee shot. I tried to just put together as many good shots as I can. The putt on 17 dropped, so that was really, you know, kind of a relief after all day of trying to grind for the score that I shot.

So overall I think it was a pretty good round.

Q. Is there a sense of relief getting the round done today?

ANA BELAC: Oh, yeah, definitely. I was like praying on the tee that we're going to be able to finish today.

Q. You put yourself in contention, five shots back. Obviously you found out in golf anything can happen in a final round. How exciting is it to put a good three days together and hopefully a solid fourth round together?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, I think I'm just getting way more comfortable being out here and being in one of those lead groups. Tomorrow I'm going to try to enjoy the moment with all the spectators being back and everything going on and such a great venue.

So I think I'm just going to try it take it all in and see what happens.

Q. Some east winds today picked up. Hadn't seen much wind this week, around 10 to 15 miles per hour. How did you adjust to it and were they challenging?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, in the morning it was pretty challenging, but kind of luckily I grew up in an area where there was a lot of wind so I played in the wind all the time.

So I get excited when the conditions are a little bit tougher. Just like makes me -- feel like it makes me a little bit more creative on the course, which I love.

So I didn't think it was necessarily a bad thing.
