Quick Quotes
Q. Jin Young Ko, a bogey-free 8-under par 63 today. You said it's been a long time. Had to feel good to accomplish that.
JIN YOUNG KO: Yes, it's been a while bogey-free round, and I had great round today and I had great some shot and great putts.
Yeah, it was great round.
Q. You had an eagle on No. 17, which was part of your front nine of play today. Take us through that hole, No. 17, and how you accomplished an eagle.
JIN YOUNG KO: I had a lot of birdie opportunity before the No. 17 but I didn't made it, I couldn't made it. I don't know why.
But I made eagle No. 17, so it was great momentum for me to back nine. So, yeah, it's going to be fun. And I, yeah, had really great round, yeah, still.
I hit driver from the tee and then I got 5-wood, 190 meters, and then I got to like maybe five meters behind flag. It was downhill putt, but I made it.
Q. Nice. Nice long putt. Had to provide some nice momentum. Then you found your way to six birdies on the front nine. Take us through just the front nine. You got off to a nice stretch and hit a nice run.
JIN YOUNG KO: Yeah, putting was good today, even shot so-so. Shot wasn't good but putting was really good. And then I readed break really well today so I had confidence on the green, so I made a lot of putt today.
Q. Last week obviously Nelly won to move up to No. 1, and you've mentioned before how you want to stay at No. 1. Do you have more momentum to get back or even more passion to fight back into the No. 1 position?
JIN YOUNG KO: Well, I wasn't play good last two events, but Nelly, she play really well last two events, so she going to -- she got world ranking No. 1.
But I think it's going to happen. Like if she plays good she can do world ranking No. 1, but I wasn't good, so I moved down from the No. 1 to No. 2.
So that's fine. And I'm still alive. (Laughter.) So doesn't matter really.
Q. Did it provide a little I guess motivation to find some --
JIN YOUNG KO: Not really, not really. Yeah.
Q. Christina said it's your dad's birthday.
JIN YOUNG KO: Yeah, today is my father's birthday.
Q. So a good start of the celebration.
JIN YOUNG KO: I think so. I think he's going to be happy. I gave him for the money, like small gift already last night, but I think it's going to be more like happy when I hitting like 63 today.
Q. Yeah, I would imagine. Any plans with dad for the rest of the day?
JIN YOUNG KO: I will buy for the cake for him tonight and then I will eat Korean food with my parents.
Q. Does he have a favorite cake?
JIN YOUNG KO: No. He doesn't like sugars.
Q. That's okay. It'll be fun.
JIN YOUNG KO: Yeah.
