Quick Quotes
Q. Joined by Jasmine Suwannapura after a 5-under 66 on day one of the 2021 Volunteers of America Classic. Jasmine, you had some nice birdies today, six in total, at Nos. 1, 7, 10, 12, 15, and 18. I would imagine starting off with a birdie on 1 really got you going for the day.
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yeah, just hit a good drive and second shot hit it pretty close, maybe like four foot for birdie.
So start with an easy birdie today, which is feeling pretty good.
Q. Did that help get the momentum going for the round?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yes and no, because after that I have a couple par. You know, like I didn't get a chance to have a birdie chance on the second hole. I hit a little long and chipping.
But yeah, I'm glad that after that make some birdie and keep it going.
Q. You missed the cut the last two events. You start off on the right foot today. What have you worked on to get back into form?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: I just feel like it's golf. You can't really play good golf every day. And then I been playing a lot of golf. I haven't really take any time off. And then just being very patient until now that the result coming out, and happy with the result.
Q. I think one of the last times I talked with you was at the MEDIHEAL Championship. You had your fiancée on the bag.
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yeah.
Q. There is a new face on the bag. Who is it and when did you guys start working together and what has the relationship been like?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: I met Justin in Kia, so he's half Thai, half American and he like food, so we very outgoing and try to get best food for the week.
And so I start working with him in KPMG and this week. And like I said, it's been very tough mentally because so many golf, and just have to believe that we got the game and hopefully come out sooner than later.
Q. Does Jasmine Suwannapura have any off weeks, or is it just grind, grind, grind?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Just going to keep grinding. I mean, we'll see if I win one or Top 5, then maybe I will take some time off.
But just hopefully it will be there sooner.
Q. You mentioned you and Justin find food. Have you found any good food spots this week for some good comfort food to get ready for the tournament?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yep. We definitely find some really good Thai, like Eastern Thai food, so it's very spicy.
Q. What was the name of the place or where was it?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Yesterday we went to Yummy Thai right by his airbnb. So we got a pretty like authentic dish, you know, that we can get here. Very hard to find that taste very authentic.
Q. So safe to say a good taste of home leads to a good score for you?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Oh, yeah. We talk about it all day. Oh, we going to have to go back there. We going to order it again and order some other stuff, like because the menu just so big.
Q. That's good. Awesome. You played here in December.
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Uh-huh.
Q. Obviously the heat is crazy different. Temperatures were in the 30s that week. How much different does the change in seasons make this course play and is it a little more challenging or what is the difference?
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: I feel like back when in December I feel like it's just so cold, windy, so the ball did not go very far.
And the fact it's windy it's not going to help either, because, you know, we don't have much of grass back then. Everything kind of very cold and brown. So it's very hard to like judging the wind and it's cold, uh-huh.
And then this week I feel like it's very sunny and everything is green. I feel like because we got some rain before, so the green is little softer than before.
Q. Uh-huh. Good luck the rest of the week.
JASMINE SUWANNAPURA: Thank you.
