Quick Quotes
Q. Last person to tee off today, certainly worth the wait. Talk us through the opening round of 65 today.
JOHANNES VEERMAN: Yeah, you know, it felt really easy, golf the last couple months hasn't felt quite that easy. Usually when you're maybe struggling or the ball is not going quite where you want it to you really are grinding through it.
But today I was hitting it where I was looking, puts were falling, so it was a very, very enjoyable round today.
Q. What were you most proud about? We've seen loads of guys out there even who were firing on all cylinders dropping shots. You had seven birdies and not a single black mark on your card.
JOHANNES VEERMAN: Yeah, it's obviously nice to go bogey-free because it feels like you squeezed everything you could have out of that round. I made a couple good putts for par from about 12 to 15 feet on 6 and 7, and when those both went in, yeah, that kind of got the ball rolling.
Q. You've made a lot of news especially on social media what you did to get into the U.S. Open, given that the top three who aren't already exempt are going to get into The Open Championship. How much does that play in your mind?
JOHANNES VEERMAN: You know, I haven't really thought about it too much until you're bringing it up. Obviously it would be great to play in another major championship, especially the British Open, the oldest major in golf. I mean, I already played in the U.S. Open, a big bucket list that I checked off, and if I can get into this one, that's just a bonus.
