Quick Quotes
THE MODERATOR: We're here with Anna Nordqvist, who just shot a 2-under 70. Anna, that was a pretty good card, three birdies, just one bogey. Tell us the story of your round. How are you feeling?
ANNA NORDQVIST: I got off to a really good start, but I felt like I've been hitting it really solid and hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens. I think I missed two greens today, and they were both with good shots. Overall, it's been consistent. I didn't putt very well today, so going to work a little bit on my putting this afternoon.
It's a great golf course. The wind's been swirling a little bit, so you have to be on your toes, but overall I'm very happy and I feel like it's been very consistent.
THE MODERATOR: Can you tell us about those three birdies you made on No. 2 and then on 5 and 6. What happened there?
ANNA NORDQVIST: No. 2, I think I hit it to about 20 feet, and I made a good putt there. No. 5, I almost yarded on the third shot. So that was about probably a six or seven footer. Then I hit it to 12 feet on the next one on the green because they moved up the tee box, so I two-putted that one for birdie.
Q. Seemed like you played nicely last fall at Aronimink. Do you enjoy the tougher tests?
ANNA NORDQVIST: I feel like it's two totally different golf courses. I feel like Aronimink was playing longer than this golf course. There's obviously a lot of water on this course. The par-3s are really tough. But I feel like KPMG has put us on such great venues the last couple years. It's really been a blast playing all these venues that I've never been to before.
Q. In two days, what would you say is the strongest part of your game?
ANNA NORDQVIST: I feel like ball striking has been really consistent. It's something that I've been working on, putting myself in good spots, giving myself chances. Hopefully, I can make a few more putts over the weekend.
Q. So you and Madelene played well, and Sweden kind of has a history of having some great players. From an amateur perspective, there's, I think, four Swedish players in the top ten in the world. How does it feel to have Swedish flags on the leaderboard and represent your country?
ANNA NORDQVIST: It's very nice. I feel like it hasn't been that way for a while. Yeah, Madelene's been playing well the last couple weeks. I just try to focus on my game, and that's really where my focus is at, but I've seen a few Swedish flags out there today, and it's nice to have spectators out. We just have a little bit more of a better atmosphere, like a tournament atmosphere, and I've been really enjoying that.
