Quick Quotes
THE MODERATOR: Here with Charley Hull with a 1-under 71. Another steady, solid round today. How do you feel like you played?
CHARLEY HULL: I felt like I played pretty good on the front nine. My driver wasn't behaving on the back nine, but I'm going to go out and work on it in a bit. I feel like I finished with two good birdies, so it's some momentum for the weekend.
THE MODERATOR: I was going to ask you about those birdies. Tell us what happened there 17 and 18.
CHARLEY HULL: I hit an 8-iron to like three feet on 17. It was a great shot straight at the pin. 18, I hit my drive right and laid it up and then pushed my wedge shot in. It was a bit of a bad number with me. It was either a tiny wedge or a flat out gap wedge. When I usually go at it with my wedges, I hit a bit awry. I hit it like 20 feet right at the pin and holed the putt.
Q. How difficult does this course become if you're not hitting fairways?
CHARLEY HULL: It's got a bit of room out there. It's mostly the bunkers. I think I hit it in six bunkers today off the tee. It was all right. As long as I'm on some grass, I'm fine. I'm a good iron player, so as long as I'm on the fairway or on some grass, I will make birdies.
Q. I didn't understand the last part of your last question. You were between gap wedge and baby wedge, and I forgot which one you hit.
CHARLEY HULL: I hit the gap wedge.
Q. Full-fledged?
CHARLEY HULL: Yes, I hit it flat out.
Q. What did you do on 6 today? What did you think of the tee going forward?
CHARLEY HULL: 6, I hit a 3-wood, pitched it over the pin. I was on the back edge of the green and two-putted. It was a good hole. It was a good, fun hole. Both Jess and So Yeon laid up. I thought Jess could have gone for it, but she didn't, but I always go for the pins. I just went with my 3-wood and whacked it on there.
Q. How often have you seen that where a hole has been drastically moved forward?
CHARLEY HULL: I've seen it a bit more over the last years. It's kind of good because you're going to see a lot of birdies and you're going to see a lot of bogeys, especially with the runoff on that hole and the water on the left where you slightly pull it because the water extends past the pin number. So, yeah, you're going to be in the water. I think it's good. I think it's fun. I think it's good for the crowds to watch.
Q. What did you make, par?
CHARLEY HULL: No, I made birdie.
Q. Do you have a photographic memory for the golf course? You're rattling that off without looking it up.
CHARLEY HULL: I'm 100 miles an hour. I'm always 100 miles an hour with everything. I'll remember it and in a few days time I'll probably forget.
