U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN

June 1, 2021

Charley Hull

San Francisco, California, USA

The Olympic Club

Quick Quotes

Q. This will be your first U.S. Women's Open staged at the Olympic Club. What do you think of the course so far, and what do you think makes it difficult?

CHARLEY HULL: I think it's really good. I played 18 holes yesterday. Obviously it's really elevated and the rough is really, really thick. The greens are quite undulating. You want to make sure you hit the fairways so you can access the greens easily.

Q. Coming into this week, how do you feel about your current form? Anything new or different you're working on this week?

CHARLEY HULL: Been a few changes on my three weeks off, because I was away for like seven weeks, and I thought I was playing quite well, just haven't been scoring. Played well in the last major but just didn't quite get there on the last day.

Yeah, no, I feel like my form's pretty good. I feel confident in myself. Just working with a psychologist, so, yeah, hopefully I will use some of the stuff he's been saying these few weeks off and put it into my round in the next couple days.

Q. The last six majors have been won by different first-time winners. Why do you think that is, and can you continue that trend?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, it would be great if I could. I didn't actually realize that, but there's so many good players out here now. It's not just, say, the top 20 in the world that can win, it's anyone down to 30th, 40th now that's got a good chance.

Q. The course and the climate seems to suit you. Is that true? If so, why?

CHARLEY HULL: Yeah, obviously, it's a lot more like England. Last week it was actually warmer in England. I like tight golf courses. I like hard golf courses as well. I find them interesting.

Q. Is it fair to say the U.S. Open is the biggest in the female game? And if so, what would it mean for a Brit to mean?

CHARLEY HULL: It would be absolutely fantastic. It is, obviously, the biggest prize fund and the oldest women's major, so it is the biggest one.

Obviously you always want to win your home Open. But, yeah, it would be a good one to win.

Q. Two more questions. How would you describe your year so far?

CHARLEY HULL: Not too bad. I had a top ten. Could have had a few more, but I just kind of slipped away. I feel in good form. I feel in good shape. I'm looking forward to a good season. I haven't had my caddie the last few weeks.

Q. How highly does the Olympics play in your mind at the moment? Two majors in four weeks and then a cutoff point. Are you thinking about it?

CHARLEY HULL: Cutoff point for what?

Q. The Olympics.

CHARLEY HULL: I don't really think about it. I'm one of those people that I just stay in the moment. Yeah, just concentrating on now. No point in thinking about the Olympics in a few months time. Just play your best golf now, and if you play well, you get in.
