Quick Quotes
Q. Brittany Altomare, a 1-up victory. The last match of the day and you walk off the course a winner. You were down not once, but twice, 3-down during your match. Take us through the first stretch when you went down 3 over the first three. What was going through your mind at that point?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, you know, I just -- you know, I didn't start off very well. Started off bogey, bogey, bogey so I didn't really deserve, I thought, to be up at any point.
But then I kind of pulled it together and I kind of realized like the golf course is tough, so you just got to play smart and play aggressive, but smart, and I just started settling down and made a birdie and a bunch of pars coming in and hung in there.
You just got to be patient I feel like in match play, because literally anything can happen.
Q. You had a birdie on 5 and then that dropped it to 2. Then you parred 6 to bring it back to 3. Then you parred 7 to get it back to 2 and then the charge was on from there. There has to be a lot of mental fortitude I imagine to accomplish what you did today.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah, like I said, I just really tried to stay patient. I tried to just hit good golf shots, hit my targets, and same thing with putting. Just stay patient and fortunately like it worked.
Q. At any point this week have you drawn back on your experiences of the 2019 Solheim Cup and some of what you accomplished there to just maybe relive what it's like to be in a match play setting?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: Yeah. I mean, you know, Nelly and I were down like four I think at one point in our match and we came back it tie it. I kept thinking to myself, Just stay patient. Things will happen. And, I mean, I know I keep saying it, but it's honestly what I did all day, was try and stay patient and not get too worked up out there.
Q. Yeah, and patience is a virtue.
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: It really is.
Q. How tough is the course playing? We've seen a lot of -- you guys had some pars win holes, bogeys win holes out here. How tough is it not only to compete against your competitor but also the course?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: It's really tough. The greens are firm. It's almost in major championship condition. I mean, this golf course is amazing. It rewards good shots. If you hit bad shots slightly off line you're having hard up and downs or hard approach shots into the greens that don't really hold very well.
So it's a great golf course. Really tests you.
Q. What has the experience been like for you so far this week between the support of Bank of Hope and MGM?
BRITTANY ALTOMARE: It's been amazing. They're treating us like superstars basically. The gifts and the golf course, the hotel, they've thought of every single detail and it's been amazing. It's been a great week.
