Southern Hills Country Club
THE MODERATOR: Good afternoon, we're back here at the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joined by Larry Mize. Posted a 1-under par 69 today. Larry, that's a really clean scorecard. I imagine you like how you played and you like how you feel standing here with us right now.
LARRY MIZE: Yeah, this is always a good feeling to get to talk to y'all after the round. I did play pretty solid. One hiccup on 16. I just hit a poor little pitch shot there and made bogey. But other than that it was pretty solid and made some nice putts when I needed to and very pleased with 1-under.
Q. Pretty big course, fairly soft. Distance was no issue out there for you today?
LARRY MIZE: They got the course in great shape and distance I hit some long clubs into some holes but that's normal for me and, but the course is playing really well and I just was able to take advantage when I got the chance and made a couple of birdies and the nice thing is just stop the bogeys and I don't like to make bogeys. So to only make one bogey around this golf course I'm very pleased with that.
THE MODERATOR: When the wind crept up probably around the turn for you somewhere close to that at least did it change things for you? Did it change the equation as you pulled clubs or was it all the same?
LARRY MIZE: No, obviously into the wind you're having to hit more club and everything so you had to make some adjustments to the wind, but it wasn't too bad and it was blowing fairly consistent. It would fluctuate a little bit, but it didn't, it wasn't brutal out there with the wind. I think you -- obviously this morning I think we had the good end of it. I think this afternoon's going to get tougher with the probably the gusts will come up a little bit, so but a little tougher with the wind, but I was able to get through it and I a couple of shots I did hit poorly with the wind I was able to get those shots up-and-down for par.
THE MODERATOR: Do you consider yourself a player that plays well in the wind traditionally?
LARRY MIZE: I would consider myself an okay wind player. I wouldn't consider myself a real good wind player. Obviously I'm better than I was when I was younger, so I'm okay in the wind, but I don't -- you know, I'm okay in the wind.
