Quick Quotes
Q. Stacy Lewis, 2-under 69 for 5-under total. Welcome.
STACY LEWIS: Thank you.
Q. Probably the best bogey many of us have seen on 18. Can you walk us through that?
STACY LEWIS: Yeah, well, I been working on my driver, and it's been really good this week up until this point.
So kind of just told myself to forget about it because I know I'm hitting it better than that, and hit a great second drive. Hit 8-iron in there to about probably 18 feet, and then just told my caddie when I made that putt, That's what I do. Just keep grinding and that's just how I play.
Q. It looked like you had a lot of birdie efforts today where you hit good putts that didn't go in, and really could have been a much better number.
STACY LEWIS: Uh-huh.
Q. Did you feel that way yourself?
STACY LEWIS: I did. I feel like that back nine -- for me that back nine just plays hard. Longer clubs in. We had some hole locations that were kind of covered with shadows so it was a little bit harder to read putts.
Had a bunch of putts just kind of break around the hole and end up right behind it. So just not a whole lot you can do. You just keep trying to work on it, and make some more tomorrow.
Q. And your iron shots, every shot looked like it was going in the hole. Has that been coming or is that something you've had throughout most of the year?
STACY LEWIS: Irons have actually been really good. It's been the driver that has been -- it's -- I've been hitting it really short off the tee just not solid. Been having to hit a lot of long irons into holes, so I just felt like if I just could just start hitting driver more solid where I'm hitting 9-irons instead of 7-irons, just felt like I could start scoring better.
So just working on some ball position things and setup things and it's really starting to come around, so I'm excited about it.
Q. Won last year at the Scottish, firm and fast conditions. You got firm and fast conditions again. Is it something that you really learned to love?
STACY LEWIS: I love it. I love -- you have to think about how far your drive rolls out, which bounce you're going to get in the fair ways. It's thinking golf is a better way to put it. I love it playing like this. I mean, when it's lush and green it looks great on TV, but I like playing this kind of golf better.
Q. Quick question. Up to 5,000 fans here this week. Do you feel that difference? And if so, does it give you momentum?
STACY LEWIS: Yeah, definitely felt more energy out there today. It was fun. We had, I don't know, handful of people following us the back nine, and wish I could have made some putts for them, but it's nice to be signing autographs again. Signed my first one on Tuesday. I was kind of like, How do I do this again?
But it's great. I hope more tournaments see that we can do this and open things back up.
Q. How about this particular event? Is this a special one to you?
STACY LEWIS: I think it's special to our tour. We've just been coming here for so long and there is so much history here. I know Pure Silk is up after this year as a sponsor, but hopefully we can get somebody else here and keep coming back. As a tour we have so much history here.
I like the no overseed better now, so yes, I like this place.
Q. Last one from me. Even though we've been months into our 2021 season now, it seems like it's just got to get more hectic. Is there anything that you're particularly looking forward to this year, Olympics or even Solheim?
STACY LEWIS: Solheim is always on my radar. It's in Toledo this year where I was born and I have a lot of family there, so it's been on my radar for probably four years now.
So I'm definitely thinking about that. I didn't go to Asia, had four weeks off coming into here, so I wasn't really sure how I was going to play. So pleasantly surprised I guess with not too much rust.
But I'm going to be busy the next few weeks, and it's all about Solheim.
