Q. You had a great putting day. Great round of 9-under 63. What was the difference between today and the first couple days?

HARRIS ENGLISH: Freed it up a little bit. I been struggling a little bit on Saturdays the past few weeks, past few months. Kind of freed it up and made a great par save on the 1st first. 7-iron came out a little slow. Grass was a little wet this morning, and you need some of that out here.

I knew it was going to be a day where you can make a lot of birdies and move up the leaderboard. Doing stuff like that keeps the momentum. And I hit it close on 2 so I got off to a great start.

Really started reading the putts better today. I didn't spend as much time reading the putts. These greens are very subtle, and I think the past couple days I was trying to grind too hard on the reads and psyching myself out.

So I really just go with my first read and rolled it. Kept the momentum going and kept the birdies flying.

Q. This golf course you can get on a run. You had that run between 5 and 12, five birdies and an eagle. What is about this golf course that makes you feel like you can get something going?

HARRIS ENGLISH: It's just pretty wide off the tee. There is not a whole lot of shots there (wind) tee shots. You get in a groove with the driver, swing hard at it, and a lot of these holes were downwind: 5, hit 4-iron to. 6 I hit it just short of the green. 8 had a wedge. 9 hit it up there close.

So you can get some of the par-5s, couple shorter par-5s you can get it close. So it's got some fun holes. You can get on the run on the back and it's going to be interesting.

It's tough the last four or five holes were playing really tough and anything can happen.

Q. Had you played here before?

HARRIS ENGLISH: I hadn't. I talked to guys that played Q-School here and said what the scores were. Even though when they played it it was cold and windy. It just kind of lends itself to it. Pretty wide off the tee, big greens. The greens were rolling so good out here.

We just don't play a whole lot of the courses like this where we can gear up and let the driver loose and not worry about the rough and hit a lot of fairways. It is what it is. It's going to be a shootout I know it. I know it is. I saw Sam Burns shoot 10-under yesterday, and I knew I had to come out here and post a good one.
