Quick Quotes
Q. Aaron, an 8-under 64. Not a bad way to start a golf tournament. What are some of the takeaways from the day?
AARON WISE: Yeah, played great. Super happy with everything. Was able to hit the ball really well, which I been doing for a while. Today was able to make some putts and shoot a low one.
Q. To start with a 64 is great, but to keep this going over the next 54 holes is a different thing. How do you maintain the momentum over the next three days?
AARON WISE: I mean, I don't know if you can try and maintain it from today to tomorrow. There is such a long time until I tee off. It's kind of turn, hit the off switch, go back, relax, hang out, and then once tomorrow comes, kind of get a work out in in the morning and get things back up and going.
Q. By the time you got to the 5th hole you were even and went on a nice birdie streak there. What changed between 4 and 5?
AARON WISE: Nothing really. You know, it's funny, I was just talking to George about that. It was interesting that through four holes I was like kind of getting impatient, when is my birdie coming, because you know it's playing easy. You want to get under par.
It was really good for me to rip off four in a row there starting there. Kind of took some stress off. I was able to relax a little bit and play good golf on the back side.
Q. First win here at the AT&T Byron Nelson; different golf course. What are your impressions of the course today and how much pressure did you feel to get after it when the conditions are so gettable?
AARON WISE: Yeah, you know, it's a good golf course but it's playing about as easy as it can play. We got a ton of rain the last two days and then perfect weather today and looks like tomorrow and Saturday as well, so it's set up for scoring. You know you have to attack pins, and for me I to keep the putter hot and keep making those 5- to 15-footers and keep the red numbers going.
Q. I heard you say you were looking up at the leaderboard. Is that something you do?
AARON WISE: Typically, you know, on a standard round I wouldn't, but if I'm playing well I like to see what the other guys are doing. Especially with this being a new golf course, the first time, I didn't know what it was going to play like.
So when I looked up middle of the round and saw people 5-, 6-under I knew it was playing easy and I knew I had to go out there and make some more birdies.
Q. Best of luck this week.
AARON WISE: Thanks.
