Quick Quotes
Q. Tough battle out there. What are your takeaways from today's play from both of you?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: I felt we played good. We played really good in regulation and we had lots of opportunities. If we could make a few more birdie we could have been loads under through 8 holes today, I think, today, but it wasn't meant to be.
Q. Charl? Same question.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: For sure. We played great and a lot of opportunities, which is what you want to do in this format. On another day they go in (audio cut out) and today they didn't. We both played really well.
Q. I thought your short game, especially on 2, 3, and 9 those chips getting up-and-down what was a big support for Charl. How much have you worked on your short game and in this format how important is that?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: The round -- the round this golf course with it being so tight it's not an ideal spot really to be in to chip the whole time or to chip quite a bit. You're trying to hit as many greens or you use putters. I think in those situations I was lucky enough that it wasn't that firm grainy grass. There was a little bit of grass underneath the ball and I could do something with it. But I think we made good pars when we had too and just now here and there two birdie putts we didn't make. So it's that type of format, it can go, you can quickly make a bogey, a double bogey, and you just need to keep it together for the whole round.
Q. Charl, how did you feel about the roller coaster of emotions on the back nine with the lead changing hands a number of times, Cam and Mark getting up against the tree on 13 and then chipping in on 16. Was there ever a point where you guys felt like maybe you had control of it?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I thought we had pretty good control on the front nine. We played well. When they had the unplayable and I had the birdie putt and then it switches from two behind to one ahead, which was difficult. But in this game, we have been around long enough to know it's not over until it's over at the end. It was a roller coaster of emotions, though.
Q. Obviously no one wants to have the tournament end that way, but you got to be pretty pleased with the way you guys played all week.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Yeah, we had a lot of opportunities. The idea was to give ourselves as many birdie putts as we can and we did that. It probably could have gone any way out there today.
Q. Alternate shot a tough format. You never know what can happen.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, for sure. We gave ourselves a lot of opportunities. We played well. It was tough. And we had our chances and just didn't work out for us.
Q. Obviously not the finish that you would have wanted unfortunate to miss out in the playoff but give me an idea of your feelings after today.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Disappointed, but I felt we played well, gave ourselves loads of opportunities. Alternate shot's always a tough format. But we have a third here. We have a second. I feel next time we'll come back and get the first. But so a disappointing way to finish like that, but I think it could have gone any way, the way we played in regulation.
Q. I'm sure it's going to take a little bit of time for the dust to settle and for you to clear your heads after today. But once that's happened will we look back at this as an enjoyable week alongside each other?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Definitely for me it's always great playing with an old friend and we had opportunities today in regulation play. I missed a few short putts, or makeable putts on the back nine, but we hit good putts and playing with Louis is a great week he always place fantastic and yeah, we had a good time.
