Quick Quotes

Q. Marc, whose idea was it for the mullet, and were you happy with the way it went down?

MARC LEISHMAN: Yeah, I guess if you pick a song like the mullet song you've got to commit to it. Thought I'd get the mullet up and grow one quick enough. Fertilizer doesn't quite work on hair like it does on grass.

No, just a bit of fun. Got a few laughs on the first tee and lightened the mood, I guess, helped our start. We got off to a good start today. It probably won't come out tomorrow I don't think; concentrate on that first tee shot.

Q. When you look at how you finished on Friday and how pivotal tomorrow is going to be, what do you want to change about your game going into foursomes again?

MARC LEISHMAN: Well, I didn't play my best golf on Friday. Found something on the range yesterday afternoon with particularly my wedges, and if I could play a little better -- Cam is playing great, putting great. I'm feeling a lot better over the ball today than I did the first two rounds, so if I can play good, Cam keeps doing what he's doing, I think we're a good chance. But a lot can happen in foursomes, and so many other good players up at the top of the leaderboard. A lot has to go right, but hopefully we can do our job and make some birdies and give the guys ahead something to think about.

Q. You guys are obviously comfortable with each other, you're friends. How much does that help when the format like tomorrow is so pressure-packed?

CAMERON SMITH: I just think it just reduces stress a little bit, particularly when you're in a bit of a tough spot. You know, we play jokes with each other out there today, but tomorrow is probably a little bit more stressful and a little bit more full on. But it's definitely a relief to know that I've got one of my best mates beside me, and he's trying just as hard as what I am. So it's good.

Q. Marc, where did you pick up that mullet? Did you order that on Amazon?

MARC LEISHMAN: I ordered it on Amazon. I think it was $18. I was expecting to have to pay a lot more for it actually, but I was committed to do that.

Q. How long ago did you order it?

MARC LEISHMAN: I ordered it last week. We only picked the song -- I got an email on Thursday saying we had to pick a song, so I picked the song and ordered it Thursday night. It was there Sunday before I flew here. Yeah, it was fun.

Q. Did you know that was coming?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I did. He didn't want to tell me, but he was afraid that I'd be in stitches if he just pulled that prank on me on the first tee. No, it would have been -- I wouldn't have been able to hit my first tee shot if he didn't tell me, to be honest. I would have been cracking up. I would have been crying probably.

MARC LEISHMAN: I was thinking about hitting the first tee shot with it, but it was way too windy. There was no way I could have done it.

CAMERON SMITH: Now you know how I feel.

Q. Cam, what will you take for tomorrow from your experience winning here in 2018? What do you think might help you? And for Marc, he trusted you with the haircut. Would you trust him in trimming your beard?

MARC LEISHMAN: At the moment I think he could handle it. There's not too much up there. Oh, the beard? Yeah, the beard will grow back in a week.

Q. Cam, anything from your win with Jonas that will help you?

CAMERON SMITH: I don't think so. I mean, the course is so much different to what it was when we won. Obviously we've both been up at the top of leaderboards a fair bit lately, so I think just on our own experiences I think that'll help a lot. But we've just got to knuckle down and basically do what we did today. We played really good golf today.

Q. Do you think Trevor Immelman will look at this and forget about analytics saying you guys don't make a great partnership?

CAMERON SMITH: I don't know. I mean, I was obviously a little bit perplexed, I guess, that we didn't get paired down in Australia, but I was fully committed to what the team wanted and what Ernie wanted. It didn't bother me either way whether I was playing with Leish or someone else. I just wanted to give it my all and get out there and play some golf.

MARC LEISHMAN: Yeah, I mean, what Ernie did worked, so certainly -- maybe initially I was a little surprised, but I was not sour or not any of that. He had a plan, and we stuck to the plan, and it very nearly worked. I'm sure Trevor will have a plan, as well. Maybe this might influence it a little bit, but we're committed to our captain and what he's going to do.

Q. Was there one particular highlight of the round for both of you or given you're playing your own ball was there a highlight each?

MARC LEISHMAN: Maybe for me, 4? I think 4, Cam was looking like making bogey, and I hit a really good iron shot into 4 to about six feet and made the putt, so that probably was a highlight for me.

CAMERON SMITH: I mean, I was happy just being there and watching Leish play good golf. It was good to see.

Q. What did you do on 3? Were you off the green and did you chip in or did you putt?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I chipped in. It was not far off the green, maybe 10 feet off the green. It was a pretty standard chip shot.
