Quick Quotes
Q. Louis, you guys have had success in this event, been paired together of course in the Presidents Cup. Why do you gel so well?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: I think we know each other really well. We grew up playing golf in South Africa together and been on teams for South Africa's junior level and senior level and played Presidents Cup together. So we're very comfortable together, and never once really said sorry to the guy. You know you're trying your best. I think we're very comfortable playing next to each other and sort of feed off each other's games.
Q. Charl, it seemed like it was a tale of two nines. How would you describe the day?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Yeah, definitely. I thought I played really well. I got a lot of opportunities on the front nine, which I converted most, and then Louis made a bunch of birdies on the back nine, so I think in better ball that's ideal. You can advance, both make a lot of birdies but on the same hole, and that doesn't really help your cause. We made birdies on different holes today, and you can't really plan that, but that's how it works out and that's key.
Q. The cliche in America is ham and egg. Is there a better South African version of that?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Dovetail. We call it dovetail. I don't know why, but yeah, we call it dovetail.
Q. When was the first time do you think you paired together with him, the two of you, all the way back to your junior days?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: I was 10 years old when I first played with him for the first time. That was the South African Boys, so the junior --
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Under 13s. That was way back.
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Yeah.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: I was 12, he was 10. But yeah, that was a long time ago.
Q. Were you friends from that moment on or did it grow?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, I mean, we saw each other -- he lives up north, I'm down south, but we saw each other so many times just playing golf, and then obviously at a young age we both were selected for South Africa, and traveled together to Africa and to India and all kinds of places. You know, you get to know the guy, and we're still good friends, and hopefully we're still good friends after this week. (Laughing).
Q. This will be the last one along those lines. Never said you're sorry during the match to each other, never once?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: I mean, look, I think now and then you just shook your head and you tell him how bad a shot you just hit. But we both know you're trying your best. I mean, I'm not going to try and get in trouble.
