Quick Quotes
Q. Brooke, what a great second round here at Wilshire Country Club. What was it like today and what made it so different from yesterday?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, I just made a few more putts early, which was really exciting, and a couple long ones, which was really nice. I felt like I've just got a lot of energy, and a couple great breaks out there, and to finish really strong on the back nine I think was really clutch to climb up the leaderboard a little bit. Hopefully I'll continue to make a lot more birdies over the next two days.
Q. Speaking of those long putts, was there a memorable hole out there or a memorable birdie?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, actually my third hole today I hit it in the bunker off the tee and I was looking at bogey, and I was able to hit a great shot just short of the green and then was able to make a putt 11 yards from off the green. It was a nice way to kind of switch the momentum from bogey to birdie, and then like I said, just on the back nine I played really solid golf and gave myself a lot of good birdie opportunities and was able to make some.
Q. You and a few other players have already crossed the record for 36 holes, which was minus 8 here. What do you think is making it so gettable this year?
BROOKE HENDERSON: I'm not really sure. Maybe we're just learning the course a little bit more. The fairways are definitely a lot softer this year, which makes some tee shots a little bit easier. The greens I wouldn't say are any more receptive than other years, but maybe we're just learning where to hit it and where not to. But Jess Korda is playing great, so hopefully I can catch her over the next two days.
Q. Was there a goal heading into this week that you had?
BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, I think I've been playing well this year, just not seeing great results, so just trying to make progress, enjoy the journey a little bit, and just try to get a little bit better every day, and days like today, that makes it a lot better and really exciting moving forward.
Q. How about being in LA; how much do you enjoy it?
BROOKE HENDERSON: It's really cool. I'm definitely not used to the big city life, so it's definitely a unique experience being here. Big learning curve for both Brit and I, but it's fun to experience.
Q. Having your sister on the bag and also not being from a big city, how is it back at home, and are you talking to your family often?
BROOKE HENDERSON: Yeah, it's awesome to have my sister out here with me all the time and just being able to do this together is so important to us, and it just makes it so much better.
Unfortunately my parents have been in Canada for, I guess, over a year now, but they're doing really well, which is good, and staying safe.
Q. What is your goal for the next two rounds?
BROOKE HENDERSON: You know, if I can continue to ball strike the way I have so far this week, continue to make those putts, I think it could be a really exciting weekend. It's just really nice to be maybe not quite in contention because I'm a few shots back, but nice to be near the top of the leaderboard.
