Quick Quotes
Q. Maria, what a great round here at Wilshire. How do you feel now that round one is done?
MARIA FASSI: Yeah, happy. I mean, happy to be under par again. I hadn't really had many of those this year, so excited that I put a good one today.
Not many mistakes. One bogey, four birdies. Great start. So I'm excited for that and happy to get going tomorrow.
Q. What do you think is the strategy this week to get those birdies and to shoot those low rounds?
MARIA FASSI: I think there is a lot of gettable holes. You just kind of have to stay patient on a lot of them as well. It's a course where length is not really an advantage. You're going to have to place it and go from there to point B.
So it's just staying patient out there, and definitely when you do have the birdie opportunities, taking advantage of those, trying to just make those.
Q. What was the goal coming into the week for you?
MARIA FASSI: Honestly, I think it's kind of a free week for me. My knee has been bothering me a lot. Shouldn't probably be playing. For me, it was just to try and go out there and have fun and do the best I could.
That might be a new approach for the rest of the year.
Q. Last question. It's about that knee. When did you start feeling it and what's the story there?
MARIA FASSI: Yeah, I been feeling it for a little bit. It was never bad, but I definitely would feel it time to time.
Last week in Hawaii it got really bad and it's not getting that much better, so hopefully it stays put this week and then I can rest and recover.
