Quick Quotes
Q. Leader in the clubhouse at 6-under. You had ten birdies on the day. Let's start with that. Any of the particular ten birdies that you had stand out a little more than the others?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: I will say it's pretty fun day today, yeah. It's like kind of like really a lot of like really like you know roller coaster. Like I starting with double par, bogey, something like that, like on the first six hole.
Yeah, I starting to like make some putts and then like I had a lot more like chance today because like I hit it a lot more like closer. So I guess that's -- you know, like when I start to make a little bit more putts, then it's kind of, you know, make me having a fun day.
Q. The proximity to the hole is a little better.
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Yeah.
Q. You had a bogey-free 6-under 29 on the front nine which was your second nine today. What went into that effort to break 30 on the nine?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: To be honest, it was like I enjoy playing today and I have no idea how many birdies I made or what I shoot today.
I mean, I don't realize until I sign the scorecard I shot 29 on the backside today.
It was pretty fun. You know, a lot of like -- like a lot of good things out there and I'm pretty enjoy like playing and it's pretty solid.
Q. What is it about Wilshire Country Club? You won here in 2018. What is it about this course that you just really enjoy?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: I will say I always enjoy coming back here, especially I love L.A. and the weather is nice, golf course is nice, pretty good place.
A lot of good food of course. And of course like Wilshire is one of the really challenge golf course, like you just have to put yourself into good position to play and sometime just to make a two-putt.
And you know it just like -- I don't know. It just like happened to be make a little bit more putts today.
Q. Any particular food place around town that you particularly fancy?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: I will say we really close to Korean Town and it's, you know, a lot of good Thai food around here as well. I just keep eating all week.
Q. That's never a bad thing. Last one. What are some of the memories when you first came in this week having not played here last year to have that sense of renewal to come back to Wilshire?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Of course I had a lot of good memories out here. You know, like just to come back is always great. Just what I say, I love this town. I like this place. It just like -- it's just one of the golf course that you just have to enjoy it and one of the week that's, you know, I really like.
Q. So who introduced you to golf and when did you start playing?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: I would say my -- both of my parents play golf when I'm growing up. Of course I go to golf course a lot, and one day like my dad starting to have a business of golf, like he starting to open a pro shop, so that's how I start to play.
I play when I was seven years old.
Q. Very cool. Why did you decide to make golf your career?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Maybe because I'm not a good student. I mean, I do -- I mean, like when you play a lot more golf and then you starting to play a little bit more serious, you kind of have to pick like something, because it's just going to take a lot of time out of you.
I starting to like miss a lot of school and stuff like that, so like -- and I enjoy -- I think because like myself I enjoy to like work hard and see things better, so then I like -- with golf it's like, you know, when you work hard sometimes it's like you never see it right away, but like you probably have to have patient with it as well.
So it really challenging and I think I have fun with it.
Q. Why do you recommend, if you do, golf to more women and girls?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Of course golf is like -- I mean, for us we play golf as a like my job, but other than that, like I will say like people around the world play golf and they just -- something is like one kind of activity you can spend time with your family, you can spend time with friends, you got to know a lot more people.
You know, sometime it's like bring you a lot of good things, like to meet different people or -- and golf is like really worldwide. Pretty much everyone knew. I feel like now, not ten years ago, but like right now, to start golf is a lot easier and is a lot more golf courses and really nice equipment and it's just make everything a lot more fun to play and you can enjoy it.
It's of course a sport, like you can walk maybe like five hours on the golf course and better than like you go -- for me, better than like I go for a run.
Q. And a dream foursome out there?
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: A dream foursome?
Q. Obviously you.
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Obviously it's got to be me in the group. I would say myself, my sister, which I play with her a lot. I mean, a dream, right? I would love to play with Tiger and Annika.
Q. Okay. All right. That's four.
MORIYA JUTANUGARN: Is that four?
Q. Yeah. Thank you so much and good luck tomorrow.
