Wilshire Country Club
Press Conference
Q. Andrea, thank you so much for taking the time this week. I mean, you are basically an honorary member here at Wilshire. How excited are you about playing at your honorary home course?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, I'm really excited. It's not every day that I get to play a tournament at a home course and stay at home, so it's really exciting for me. I'm really looking forward to it. Yeah, the course looks like it's in incredible shape, so, yeah, just really excited.
Q. What do you think is the most challenging part of the course this week?
ANDREA LEE: I think the defense to this golf course is definitely the greens. I've played it so many times now and I still get kind of tripped up on the greens and don't really know which way it breaks sometimes.
So I think green reading is going to be key, and just putting yourself in the right spots on the fairway to hit good approach shots into the green.
Q. Growing up here in California, what does it mean to play in your home state?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, it means so much. I'm really thankful to the sponsors for giving me an invite this week, ounce otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get in on my own.
So, yeah, just looking forward to the opportunity. Just going to be looking forward to it and just going to take the most out it, have fun.
So, yeah.
Q. 2020 was crazy and you're still in your rookie year kind of. How does that feel, and do you have any goals that you're setting this week?
ANDREA LEE: Yeah, it does feel like I'm kind of getting a second edition of my rookie year. I kind of feel like almost a veteran rookie if you would say. I got to play a lot of events last year, and I think that's really helped kind of ease into my LPGA career.
So, yeah, it's been really fun. I been learning a lot from the best players in the world out here, so just going to take this week in stride and just have fun.
Q. Last question is: What would you recommend to any player who comes up and asks what to do here in L.A.
ANDREA LEE: What to do like on the golf course?
Q. Or just in L.A. in general.
ANDREA LEE: Oh, what to do in L.A., there are a couple good hikes. The Hollywood hike is very famous, touristy, I've done it. It's a pretty good one.
Honestly, just eat so much good food, because L.A. has amazing food. There is Korean food, Thai town, really good Japanese food. Honestly, just like desserts, too. So just eat as much as you can this week I guess.
Q. Andrea, thank you so much and we look forward to rooting you on this week.
ANDREA LEE: Thank you.
