Collin Morikawa

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA

Harbour Town Golf Links

Quick Quotes

Q. On the back nine they started to fall for you.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, things actually weren't looking too good on the front. Putts were off, everything was a little off, and I had to get it turned around. A lot of low scores out there, and on a course like this you've got to make birdies or else you're going backwards. Thankful to get three in a row and give myself at least somewhat of a shot come tomorrow.

Q. The way you've played over the last three days, do you feel like something special might be out there on a Sunday, on Hilton Head Island?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I mean, it shows that there's 62s, there's 63s out on this golf course, I just have to go out there and find it. Each day I've shown little specks of good golf, I've just got to put it all together for tomorrow's final round if I want a chance.

Q. Some great fan support, as well, especially with the birdie at 17. That's got to be something that's so great to hear out on the PGA TOUR now.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Oh, I love it. I miss it. Those putts mean a little more. You're always going to remember those. Hopefully we'll have a few more for tomorrow.

Q. Takeaways from another great day of golf?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Great back nine. Had a great stretch of holes. Made something happen; I had to. The amount of guys out here playing really well, having a lot of birdies, Stewart still keeping the lead out there, I had to get within some type of number to have somewhat of a chance. We've seen low scores, I just have to go out tomorrow and hope I shoot a really low number.

Q. What did happen on that back nine that helped you get those birdies?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, you know, the very short, short putt that I missed on 7, the par-3, was just a horrific, horrific stroke. Things were getting a little quick. Saw a bunch of guys making birdies and kind of got in my head, and that's a rookie mistake I should really never make. So I just calmed down, had to take a little more pace, and changed a little thing in my putting, and obviously it worked out.

Q. What did you change in your putting?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Well, I'll let you know tomorrow. We'll see if it still works.

Q. You mentioned Stewart Cink. Obviously he's got a great week going for him. When you see a lead like that going into tomorrow, what's your mindset?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Oh, I've got to put some pressure on him at the beginning. If I go out and shoot even par like I did on the front nine today, it's not going to get the job done no matter how many birdies I make on the back. I'm going to probably need a little help from him, but knowing that this is a course where you can see -- we've seen 9-, 8-, 7-unders, I'm going to have to do that. I've seen parts of my game be able to do that, so we'll hopefully put 18 holes together tomorrow.
