LOTTE CHAMPIONSHIP

April 16, 2021

Linnea Strom

Kapolei, Hawaii, USA

Kapolei Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. I want to start off talking about that front nine that you had there.

LINNEA STROM: Yeah.

Q. Let's talk about the insane amount of birdies and that eagle.

LINNEA STROM: Yeah, I mean, I got off to a good start, and, I mean, it's been feeling pretty good all week. I just told myself to continue to be patient. And I really holed some good putts on the front nine; that helped.

And then tee was up on 7 so I hit a 7-iron into the green. Felt more like a par-4 today. But, yeah, it was good.

And then when we made the turn I just tried to start over and not think about the front nine. I was a little bit confused with the wind on 10 so got in the bunker and then made a double there.

But after that I'm pretty happy that I just continued to stay in the present and hang in there. Didn't really hole many putts on the back nine, but finished with two birdies so that was nice.

Q. Yeah, you were able to finish off strong with the birdies on 17 and 18. What was going so right as you were able to close off strong and regroup after the early bogey - and I think there was a double bogey?

LINNEA STROM: Yeah, yeah, one double on 10 and then bogey on 12. I really just tried to reset, reset and then just I there are lots of birdie holes out here.

I was a little bit frustrated; didn't really hole any -- you know, 13, 14, 15. Had good chances there.

But, yeah, like I said I just continued and to finish with two was good.

Q. This is definitely a gettable course. What do you think is working well and how does it work well in your favor, do you think?

LINNEA STROM: I mean I'm hitting it pretty far so I don't have a lot of long shots in. I have a lot of wedges and shorter irons.

I been practicing a lot on my wedges lately so I feel like that's helping me out this week.

And then it just pretty much all comes down to putting, whoever is going to hole the most putts.

Then the par-5s, that helps too, if I hit good drives there. Like almost every par-5 is reachable, so that's good.

Q. And as soon as the winds kind of start swirling it's really hard to adapt. How do you prioritize prepping for the winds that are to come?

LINNEA STROM: Yeah, the wind is for sure the trickiest part out here, I think. I'm really just trying to take good decisions and commit to my targets and just try and make good swings and trust it.

Q. And how much are you enjoying beautiful Hawaii here? We get to come back to the LOTTE Championship.

LINNEA STROM: Yeah.

Q. And even when you do have those mistakes, does it make it any easier knowing that, Hey, you get to at the end of the day be in Hawaii?

LINNEA STROM: That is very nice. I played here pretty much in college -- not this course, but on Hawaii -- so every since then I always said that Hawaii is one my favorite places, and it still is, so it's nice.

Q. Do you ever think about those experiences in college when you got to play here and adapt to the winds back then?

LINNEA STROM: Yeah, uh-huh.

Q. And the way that the courses played there when you're playing this week?

LINNEA STROM: Yeah, for sure. It's always fun to come back where you have good memories. Even if you're not on the same island like it's still pretty similar.

So it's fun, and, I mean, just enjoy. We really get to travel to some nice places all through golf and we appreciate that.
