Quick Quotes
Q. Tell us a little bit about your round today.
JON RAHM: It felt good. Nothing really happening. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think I wasn't aggressive enough early on, on my thought process on the shots. With the tee shots I hit on 1, 2, and 3, I should have had better looks at birdie, simple as that.
Then after that, I played good golf. It's just I never got anything going, kept leaving putts short. It just gets kind of frustrating. I think the key moment was 15, where we got a gust. Xander told me about it. I hit a great shot, exactly where I wanted, and he told me halfway through the flight, the ball went and shifted, and that's what made it come up short. That's golf.
Q. Without being aggressive, you're still par for the tournament. When you start going for it --
JON RAHM: It's not that the shots were passive. It's just the thought process. I was content with less than what I could afford, if that makes any sense. And instead of focusing on where I want to hit it, I was just focused on where I want to miss. It's just not how I'm used to playing golf, a little bit too passive.
On 2, I could have been more aggressive. On 1, more of an aggressive thought instead of trying to leave it 20 feet behind. And 3, same thing.
The good thing is we're going to the weekend, I'm seven shots back, and they're going to -- unless it gets really firm and fast and windy, they're going to get to double digits. So I need to shoot low regardless. So I kind of have the green light to go for it.
