MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2021

Tommy Fleetwood

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Talk about the hole-in-one on 16. Just walk us through it, if you could.

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, it was a lovely looking shot. I mean, it was in between clubs. I was sort of verging on a smooth 8, then I said hard 9. That kind of fit the shot a bit more. Stood up and hit 9. I think Scott hit one before, and he couldn't quite catch it. Hit it, slight pull. It wasn't going straight at the pin, but it was still a great shot, and a couple of bounces and in.

Q. How tough is it -- with the wind swirling, what was kind of the look that you're seeing on that hole? Was it down?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think it played a little bit down. It's easy choosing that one than it is on 12. So that was nice. It's tricky. The wind does swirl a little bit. The course is playing hard up until that point, and I had zero momentum. So it was nice just to kind of do something special and get something out of the round. So it was good.

Q. Did that kind of change your thoughts on the round a little bit?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I think I did some good stuff. I need to putt better on the greens. I holed nothing basically. A couple of drives and mostly putts were what were sort of costing me shots. I know what I have to do tomorrow and try to do the same things. I felt like my iron play was good for the most part. I felt like I was striking it nicely.

It's nice. Obviously, there was one really low round, but for the rest of it, I'm not that far behind after a decent finish. So just keep grinding away and see what happens.

Q. Tommy, I realize I'm asking this only 45 minutes or so from when that happened, but where would that rank among your most memorable shots?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Oh, it's nice to have one at the Masters. It's really nice to have one at Masters. I think that's two in two competitive weeks as well. I'm racking them up all of a sudden quickly. I'll try to keep it going.

Really, really high. We're walking down, and Tim, Phil's brother, you get a nice bit of crystal as well for an eagle. I went, wow, I've never made an eagle at Augusta. So fifth out and I finally got one.

Yeah, it's very special. Doing it at a Major is great, doing it competitively is great, but at Augusta is probably just another edge.
