Quick Quotes
Q. Bryson, the conditions right now are very benign and beautiful, but it was not that way three, four hours ago. Tell us how that affected your round and why the struggles.
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: It affected everybody's round. I personally didn't swing it that bad, just it's golf, man. I don't know what else to say.
Q. You seemed to have some trouble dialing your long putts at times.
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yeah, just stuff we can't understand yet.
Q. You had an interesting 4, 5, and 6. Talk about the struggle there. It could have been worse. You made a good save on 6.
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yeah, wind flipped on 4. 5, I just wasn't trusting the wind off the right. Then 6, it was benign how it bounced, and those conditions are really firm out there.
Q. So what do you need to fix, in your opinion?
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: I need to understand how the ball flies off of downhill slopes into uphill greens, and conversely uphill slopes into downhill greens, and all of the above. We just can't calculate and adjust the numbers very well, and the wind is pretty tricky out here. The greens are bouncing pretty hard, and that's what happened.
Q. Is the new driver going to stay in your bag tomorrow?
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yes, it's fine. Got a couple of bad swings on my own. Got to go work on it.
Q. Bryson, what do you feel you have to do on this golf course to play well?
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Everything. Clearly hit a huge drive on 18, and we got a wrong number. You've got to have every aspect. You've got to iron it well. You've got to putt it well. There are some greens that got really, really quick, looked pretty brown. We just couldn't adjust for it. The practice green is completely different than the golf course, and that was something that I know, but I just didn't adjust for.
Q. Downhill lies to uphill greens, do you see that anywhere else on Tour?
BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Not very often. It's just at Augusta. That's why I don't have a problem anywhere else.
