Quick Quotes
Q. How was your experience today out there, your first competitive round?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Honestly, it went all right. Yeah, the first tee shot was a little tough, but yeah, we made it through, and actually felt pretty good out there. Definitely hit some good shots but also some tough ones, but I thought I fought hard.
Q. You started out a little slow with bogeys on 1, 2 and 4. How did you turn it around?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Just kind of -- I didn't feel like I was doing that bad, so I just kind of kept doing my thing. I knew it was coming. I wasn't nervous or anything. Just kind of kept doing it.
Q. What are the course conditions like compared to the practice rounds that you've played here?
CHARLES OSBORNE: I thought the green speed was pretty similar on the front nine, and then we went to the back nine, I thought they picked up like two, three feet on the greens. 9 was very noticeable. It was awfully firm and pretty baked out.
Yeah, really firm. A couple those greens are a little more receptive, but yeah, just a little firmer on the back nine for sure.
Q. I saw you made a great save at 17 there. What were some of the other highlights of the round in your mind?
CHARLES OSBORNE: I only had two birdies today, but probably both birdies. No. 8 was -- I hit it long over the green and hit a really nice chip that just kind of rolled up there to about a foot and a half, so it was nice to get the first birdie out of the way, and then I made a couple good like 20-footer on 15, a big slider. That's a tough pin, too, so that was a nice birdie, as well.
Q. Headed into tomorrow, what are your goals for tomorrow's round?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Kind of just keep doing my thing, stick to the plan. I know I had some tough tee shots kind of at the end, some errant ones, so maybe see if I can go fix a little bit on the range. But yeah, just kind of have fun and keep enjoying time with my dad.
Q. Is he on your bag?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Yep.
Q. How important was it having your dad on your bag after those first two holes as opposed to maybe having a caddie from Augusta?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Yeah, when you bogey your first two holes, it's always a little tough, so it was really nice to have somebody I know on the bag and somebody I really love, so it was awesome to have him there and support me.
Q. What did he say to you? Were you talking golf or other stuff?
CHARLES OSBORNE: Kind of just random stuff. He just brings up whatever he wants, and we just kind of have fun together. It's kind of whatever comes to mind.
Q. Your goal was to be low am when we talked a couple weeks ago. How do you feel about the position you're in right now to do that?
CHARLES OSBORNE: I feel pretty good. Definitely feel like I need to do some work tomorrow for sure, but yeah, just keep doing my thing, and hopefully come out for the best.
