Quick Quotes
Q. How would you assess the round out there today?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It was tough. I felt like I was really patient, picked my spots. Defense is sort of the first thought that comes through this round, and try and birdie the par-5s.
Q. What was the hardest part about the golf course today?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It's just a normal wind; wind is kind of everywhere, which is pretty standard for here. And just the firmness of the greens, too. That's definitely something everyone is going to talk about. If you're in position on the par-5s, then you're trying to make birdie, and besides that you're trying to make a longer putt.
Q. In your time here, have you seen the greens this firm this early in the week?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I have not. You know, it's so tricky. The course setup is pretty tricky right now with weather. It was supposed to be today, got pushed to tomorrow. 20-under being the score last year, you can definitely tell if it stays like this, it won't be that number.
Q. Was there a lot of baby talk between two new dads out there?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, everyone is congratulating him, obviously. I said congrats to both of them when they had their children or kid, and I think everyone is talking to them. I try to stay away from it. Rory told me to enjoy my time while I don't have a kid, so I'm going to take his advice on that.
Q. Were there any particular greens that were really difficult? Seemed like maybe 9 or 3.
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I mean, yeah. It's just the holes where the pin demanded a tight landing area, I think. It didn't matter if it was one of the easier holes out here or one of the harder holes. It was just wherever the pin was tucked, with the green being firm, if you're off by three or four yards, it's going to make you pay or make you think about par pretty quickly.
