Quick Quotes
Q. Joaquin, how would you assess your round today?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, I think I played -- I think I played good. I just hit one bad shot on No. 10 that I think cost me a little bit too much.
Overall, without No. 10 I think I played really good golf. I think it's just the first round and I'm getting to know a little bit more the course.
I think I'll be better for tomorrow.
Q. Last year you weren't able to participate in the November version of this. You and Sergio both missed it because COVID. So after having basically two years off between coming here, what was it like to come back out, practice rounds and then coming out for the real thing today?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, after missing November I was -- obviously I wanted to play so much Augusta after when I play as an amateur.
Yeah, I mean, I think it was -- I think it was even better because the course was playing different, and just not playing in November, it was playing softer, and I think just missing that I think it could probably help me a little bit more for this year Masters, that's it's playing a lot harder, greens are firm.
Yeah, I mean, you just -- just happened to have COVID in the same week as Sergio. Yeah, I mean, it is what it is.
Q. Was it just tough to miss it overall all knowing this is such a unique course?
JOAQUIN NIEMANN: Yeah, it was tough watching it on TV in my house locked down, thinking I couldn't be here eating sandwiches.
Yeah.
