Quick Quotes
ABRAHAM ANCER: You know, it's awesome. I think it speaks to where Mexican golf is headed. I think it's in a good spot. Obviously we want to have more and more Mexicans and Latinos out here.
Yeah, it's awesome to have my friend out here, Carlos, and going to be a lot of fun. Looks like the course is going to be really good challenge this week. We're looking forward to it.
Q. Did Carlos try to pick your brain a little bit because you did so well last year?
ABRAHAM ANCER: I don't think I learned that much because the course is completely different now. But obviously for me it was a great experience to just get confidence and know that I can play well out here, although the course is different.
But I love courses that are firm and fast. It's a good challenge and lot more imagination as well, and I like this kind of golf.
So we haven't well spoke about the golf course that much to be honest.
Q. Were there lessons that you were able to draw from last year? Was there anything besides getting the Augusta jitters out?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Yeah, well, I mean, just obviously the lines off the tee and you get to see where the slopes are on the greens and you can imagine what it would be if it was firm like now.
Last year I think you could being a lot more aggressive and just go at the pin in a lot of shots that now you probably won't.
But it was good to just be out here and get kind of that first Masters out of the way, and having a good appearance is definitely good for my confidence.
Q. So does it feel like a first Masters?
ABRAHAM ANCER: No, definitely feels the second. I mean, obviously nice to have people out. We didn't have anybody out here but the members. It feels nice to be on 12 and hit in front of people, and obviously you feel a little bit more of a pressure.
But it's nice. I like to feel that.
Q. Is there a Federation in Mexico bringing up young kids that's coming on?
ABRAHAM ANCER: Absolutely. I feel like since Lorena played on tour and did so well it kind of opened our eyes and motivated us to get out here.
Also the Mexican Federation, I think they've done a really good job bringing opportunities for kids, and now the First Tee is a big deal in Mexico which before we didn't have any First Tees.
So there has been a lot of efforts in the last five years to grow the game and hopefully can keep it going.
Q. Did you play in the Latin American Amateur at all?
ABRAHAM ANCER: I did not, no. It wasn't really going around much when I was growing up.
Q. You told you last year that you framed your Masters invitation, put it in your living room. What did you do with this year's?
ABRAHAM ANCER: It's in my office. I have it right there, and I have that one framed because I feel like it's pretty cool that we got an invitations and it didn't happen. It's probably the only one that has been like that. Invitation for April and it happened in November. Still there in my living room.
