Press Conference
JULIE McCARTHY: Wasn't quite when I expected. I was here one time before and to see it with all the ropes and scoreboards up, it looks quite different out there but it was enjoyable to get to play the course again. My dad is here from Ireland, too. So he enjoyed getting to walk around as well.
We actually came with my golf team. I play with Auburn University and the juniors and seniors get to come here so it's a really cool experience when we do get to come here.
Q. When did you come here?
JULIE McCARTHY: It was actually earlier this year, maybe four weeks ago we were here it has change quite a lot. The greens dried out a lot which made it more testing but it was still really enjoyable.
Q. How tough was it to put aside 2020 and wait?
JULIE McCARTHY: It was close to the time the tournament was meant to happen and last year when it got cut short with everything that happened, I was really looking forward to coming to play and the experience has just been amazing.
Q. How do you feel about the way you performed --
JULIE McCARTHY: This is the first tournament that I've played since October, so I've been working hard coming into the week and obviously the golf wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. But it was still a great experience in tough conditions and I learned a lot and I'm looking forward to getting back to practice.
It was amazing especially the par 3s, especially around Amen Corner, when you come out here and see it in person, you don't realize how slopey and quick the greens are even after watching it on TV for so many years. We're really lucky, yeah.
Q. What's your first memory?
JULIE McCARTHY: I can't really think of my first one but I really remember vividly Bubba Watson's shot from the trees on the right and I remember -- yeah, that's probably the one that stands out the most.
