Quick Quotes
Q. Can you tell us a little bit about getting the invitation coming here and your preparations?
JULIE McCARTHY: Yes, so I was invited. Obviously it was meant to happen last year but with COVID and everything -- I was really happy we got the invite again for this year.
The preparations have begun going quite well. I've been working a lot with my coach from back home. We've had a couple of FaceTime lessons in the past couple of weeks, so I'm really looking forward to the week.
Q. Can you tell us when you got your first invitation, your first invite? What was the feeling?
JULIE McCARTHY: I think it was last January when I got the invitation for the first time. I live in dorm at Auburn so I got an e-mail to say there was a package at the mailroom. So when I went down, I was delighted when I opened the envelope. I was really excited and called home.
Q. What are your impressions of the course?
JULIE McCARTHY: The course is in amazing and it in great shape. It was playing a little longer than I expected it to be. It was a little bit wet out there from all the rain we've had but the greens were amazing and nice and quick. We really enjoyed it.
Q. What will be your goal? Do you have some expectations?
JULIE McCARTHY: I think the goal for the week is to really just try to hone in on every individual shot and just go through my routine and really look after each shot and then see how it goes from there.
Q. So you know there's a chance that you can be the first Irish person that wins in Augusta. What do you think about the history of the Irish golfers here?
JULIE McCARTHY: Yeah, it's amazing. I think I'm really looking ready forward to the week and we'll see what happens after first two days but I'm looking forward it. Especially my dad came over, he arrived from Ireland last night. So we're looking forward to the week and getting to spend some time together, too.
Q. Have you been able to talk to anyone about Augusta, the course, any advice?
JULIE McCARTHY: Yeah, we were looking at Auburn each year, the juniors and seniors getting to play at Augusta National, and we went in February, and so I really enjoyed the experience. The course is amazing. I thought it was a lot slopier than I had seen on TV. They didn't really do it justice, but it was lovely when we got there.
