Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. Last time you were here, you were outside the ropes, and now it be here, what does it feel like?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: Very different. You know, I came to watch my friend Marta Perez play the last round in the Augusta National, and I told myself, I really want to be within the ropes. I really want to play this tournament. Last year, I didn't qualify but then COVID happened. I like to think that everything happens for a reason and I'm just glad I didn't turn professional and I'm enjoying this experience this year. So it definitely feels different and I'm ready for it.
Q. Did you get any advice from other players about how to play this week?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: I honestly haven't talked to them. I'm not going to lie. I probably should just to get some sort of information or like their feedback.
But I did get some information from my caddie today. So I will definitely hold that for tomorrow and the upcoming days.
Q. Who is your caddie?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: Today I got a local caddie. Tomorrow I have Petra on my bag. She's a friend. She also plays golf. It's the one I feel comfortable with I guess. She plays for Georgia State University. She will be here today, afternoon.
Q. So you have to play well here to get to Augusta National. What do you have to do to make the cut?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: Just go one shot at a time. Control what I can control and just, I don't know, enjoy every single shot. I don't need to put any pressure on it. It's hard and we all want to be there. But I think staying patient and hitting one shot at a time, it's probably the best thing I can do these couple days.
Q. You said did you not qualify in 2019?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: I did not.
Q. How did you get so good so fast?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: Good question. I can say coming back home this last summer and work with my coach was a really good thing to do. We got to spend a lot of time together, and we came up with a plan. Stick to that plan. I guess a plan that motivated me the most, and I don't know, I think that's the reason why I got so good, so fast.
Q. What was your plan?
ANA PELAEZ TRIVINO: We set up goals, really hard goals but goals that I believe I could achieve and then from that, we just focus on like my daily routine and my practice and what I had to work on every single day, I guess in all types and different feels that the golf has, and that's it. It's pretty easy to work with my coach, also, so that helps, too, with the plan and all.
