Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Press Conference
F. FOGNINI/S. Caruso
4-6, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Can you describe what the conversation was at the end of the match with Fabio?
SALVATORE CARUSO: I was sure that was the first question. I mean, we just had some different opinions, and yeah, I think this is something that should stay in the locker room, and I will speak with him because we are friends. So we just have different opinions and we will talk about it in the next few days. But don't ask me more because I will not say more.
Q. The microphones picked up the conversation, but for those of us who don't speak Italian it's a little bit challenging. Would you be willing to at least summarize what the difference of opinion was about?
SALVATORE CARUSO: As I said, something that -- if you are Italian maybe the Italians are lucky if they catch some words, but as I said, I will not say more. Sorry.
Q. How difficult was it to swallow playing for four hours and losing 14-12 in the tiebreak?
SALVATORE CARUSO: No, I mean, actually honestly I'm pretty happy about the match. I mean, I will be -- I don't know the real word in English - buggiardo - how do you say? Yeah, I would be lying if I say I'm not happy. It was a great match, point by point in the fifth. Yeah, but I put everything I had, my physical, my body, my heart, my mind. So yeah, I'm just happy about the match. Of course I'm disappointed in the way it ended up, but I think I have many, many things, many, many good things to take from that, and yeah, as I said, it's fine. It's fine.
I had different matches that was tough to swallow, but this one is not that tough to swallow actually. It's fine.
