March 31, 2016
Rancho Mirage, California
Q. You've played here several times you feel very comfortable here?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes, yes.
Q. What particularly about this course is it that you like?
SHIHO OYAMA: I think it's a little narrow, it's not narrow. It's just I need consistency. I need accuracy on this course, consistency on this course, and I think that's what kind of fits my game. I really need to set a target and have a strategic plan for this course. I think that suits my game.
Q. Are you particularly accurate off the tee usually?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes.
Q. So you got in by Top 5 at the U.S. Women's Open?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes.
Q. You love majors? What about majors? You like the big stage?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yeah, I like the big stage, yes. It's exciting.
Q. How's your season going in Japan?
SHIHO OYAMA: So, so, so, so, not so bad. About 15, 18, 20th place, so top 20s.
Q. What expectations did you have coming into this week because you didn't think you were playing that well?
SHIHO OYAMA: No expectations because I was bad putting. Putting wasn't so good feeling. But I found it though two days ago, so it's getting better.
Q. So you found it here practicing?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes, yes.
Q. What was it, alignment, speed?
SHIHO OYAMA: It's alignment, yes.
Q. I guess a fast start coming in, how important is that for the rest of the week?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes, yes, positive.
Q. Any expectations of playing in the U.S. at all any time soon on LPGA?
SHIHO OYAMA: No, I just want to play Olympics, so it's important. This tournament is important for me, so I'll do my best. I'm already in the U.S. Women's Open.
Q. Any other events you plan to play on LPGA?
SHIHO OYAMA: This and U.S. Open.
Q. And Olympics is huge for you too.
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes.
Q. Also International Crown?
SHIHO OYAMA: Maybe, maybe, yes.
Q. Okay, perfect. Olympics, how big is that? Is that your number one goal?
SHIHO OYAMA: More than majors I feel.
Q. Tomorrow, anything to change?
SHIHO OYAMA: No, no change, just some shopping, relax.
Q. Good for you. For what, bags, clothes, shoes?
SHIHO OYAMA: Yeah, clothes, clothes. I need because in Japan, they're too small, they're small sizes.
Q. So you come to America and you get your big sized clothes. You're not even big.
SHIHO OYAMA: Normal size.
Q. What stores?
SHIHO OYAMA: I don't know, go to the mall.
Q. So shopping is on the agenda.
SHIHO OYAMA: Yes, thank you.
