6-2, 6-4, 6-4
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Were you a little wary about the crowd reaction before you went out? Were you especially nervous about the crowd getting into the match early?
DAVID FERRER: Yes, a little bit, of course, because I know Lleyton, he was last tournament in his career. Well, I tried be focus with myself. I try play point by point.
And, anyway, most fair the crowd is -- was very nice, of course, for Lleyton, because tonight is the night for him and also for me.
So I enjoy a lot playing this match, fighting with Lleyton, because Lleyton is a fighter. Is one of -- is a mirror for me.
Q. When you did lose your serve in the third set at 4-3, where you worried he could turn the match around?
DAVID FERRER: No, no. Always is difficult beat easy, and with Lleyton is impossible that. He is one of the best players of the history. His performance this Australian Open, it was very good, playing a really good tennis.
So I played a very good match for win tonight, and in that moment, well, I tried play point by point and really focused every point, because I know Lleyton fight until last ball. I know that.
Q. There was confusion as to what you said to Lleyton after the match.
DAVID FERRER: No, nothing. I said is a pleasure for me play last match against him, that he's an idol for me, and he's one of the best players of the world.
I tell him that because, well, I appreciate his game and his fight.
Q. Were you asking to swap his shirt?
DAVID FERRER: No, I say I have a T-shirt of him he sign me eight years ago. Eight years ago I tell to him he is idol for me, if he can sign me a T-shirt, and he sign.
I have. Is in my house. I have his T-shirt.
