UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT SAN ANTONIO FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

November 16, 2024

Zah Frazier

San Antonio, Texas, USA

Press Conference

UTSA 48, North Texas 27

Q. Zah, what was the mood like in the locker room after this one?

ZAH FRAZIER: The vibe was immaculate. It was there. After a big one like this, how could you not be happy? Why not us? I don't know. I'm just happy. Happy.

Q. Coach Traylor was telling us that the culture was kind of the big reason why you guys were able to pull through and get through this rough stretch. Is that something the players believe in?

ZAH FRAZIER: Most definitely. The triangle we hop on every single day. When people think we aren't harping on it, we're harping on it.

When that shows up -- we normally play a great game when we're playing with the triangle, and tonight shows it.

Q. How did you feel about the defensive effort overall to you? What stood out to you?

ZAH FRAZIER: I feel like on the defensive side we was flying around. The calls Coach Loepp was giving us, we were going out to execute it and couldn't be no better. The thing was we knew they were going to pass the ball, so stop the pass the screens, and we did that.

Q. Can you take us through your interceptions? What did you see on those two plays?

ZAH FRAZIER: The first interception I really don't even know how he threw it because I didn't think he was going to throw it.

I was in the middle of two guys, and I'm, like, He about to run it, and he threw it, and I was, like, Oh, easy. I caught it and tried to score, but they got me.

The second one I was just -- that's just being a ballplayer. I mean, you know they got some protection back there, and they got a good little time. They're going to take the shot.

We knew that coming out they was going to take the shot. Coach told me. Coach told the other corner, and we went out there and prevented it. I got the pick for it.

Q. I know they looked at that one for a while.

Did you feel like you had it secured?

ZAH FRAZIER: I didn't even know they looked at it. I stayed on the ground because I hit the ground hard. So that's why I stayed there, but as far as me dropping it, I don't worry about that.

Q. What does it say about this team to be able to just keep pushing through some of the rough times you guys have had this season?

ZAH FRAZIER: Understand we all bought in. Ain't nobody love for us. Everybody still together. We got the same team. We got the same offense. We got the same defense. We got the same coaches, same special teams. Everybody is still there.

We waking up and get a new 24 hours. We're going to be grateful for that any day. So tomorrow on to Temple. 24-hour rule. Like tomorrow, obviously we're going to celebrate our win, but 'next game' mentality as far as that goes.

Q. What does it mean to the players to be able to potentially get bowl eligibility at home next week?

ZAH FRAZIER: For us senior guys we're just trying to go to a bowl game our last college -- you know, our last game of college. Going to the bowl game is kind of a big thing for us. So that's what we pushing to and striving to get to every day.

Q. Coach Traylor called out the success you all had against them on third and fourth down. What allowed you to do so well in those downs against that offense?

ZAH FRAZIER: Just trusting. Just trusting the call because, you know, at times you can just get carried away doing your own thing. With us trusting the call and executing 100%, that's what happens when we do that. When we don't do that, the bad things happen, but good thing we did do that, and we trusted Coach Loepp.
