STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 5, 2024

Justin Lamson

Stanford, California, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Virginia Tech 31, Stanford 7

Q. Overall, how did you feel about your performance in this one?

JUSTIN LAMSON: I don't think I performed very well. I made a lot of crucial mistakes. I was moving the ball down the field, and then I had a turnover early, which put us behind. Not very good. We only scored seven points, so...

Q. When did you find out you were starting today?

JUSTIN LAMSON: I mean, I knew yesterday, but I took all the one reps in practice this week, so I had a good idea that I was probably going to get the start.

Q. What do you think the biggest issues were in the downfield passing game today?

JUSTIN LAMSON: I missed a couple of posts that were open and I've just got to throw the ball. We've got those plays, so it was me not throwing the ball there.

Q. Fumbles aside, what can be improved with the red zone offense do you feel?

JUSTIN LAMSON: We were doing good in the red zone until I fumbled. I think that was the only red-zone trip we had. I thought we did well in the red zone except for that play.

Q. It doesn't get any easier next week going to Notre Dame. What's the mentality after this one?

JUSTIN LAMSON: I'm not sure yet. Just move on and that's what Coach (Taylor) is harping right now. We've got to get better. We'll see what we take into next week.

Q. What was the message from Coach at halftime? It was a 14-0 game. What was the message from him at the break there?

JUSTIN LAMSON: Yeah, just try to get better at the stuff that we were doing well in the first half, stop them and then go score.
