Press Conference

Q. How do you evaluate your performance tonight?
GAVIN POTTER: I think that we did good, but there is definitely some stuff that we need it clean up. But, yeah, so we get those hiccups clean up I think we're molding together really well.
Just playing complementary football with each other. Defense gets a three and out, offense comes out and scores; I think that's great stuff.
Q. To give up a 75-yard run on the second play, absolutely not what you guys planned I'm sure. How do you as one of the guys that's played some ball before maybe helped to get things settled in? The defense did settle in after that.
GAVIN POTTER: Yeah, definitely not what we planned on. Yeah, we just talked to everybody, like guys, calm down; next play.
We just had to go. We had to respond. Definitely helps when the offense came out there and scored. I mean, you got Kirk driving the ball down the field. That helps build the momentum. Then defense gets to come out there and respond. We responded, so...
Q. How did it feel getting that first tackle to break the ice with yourself individually?
GAVIN POTTER: It felt great because I was really nervous, especially playing back at home. Haven't been here in a while so it definitely felt great getting to go it against a lot of teammates that I really enjoy being around.
Q. Did you have many family members and friends?
GAVIN POTTER: Yeah, I had actually like ten family members probably show up.
Q. So what has this been like overall generally coming back home to play, and then specifically what was it like tonight?
GAVIN POTTER: It's great. It's a dream come true to come back and play for my hometown. Yeah, just like I said, having all my family there and then also get to go play with my best friend, too. Like he came and played, too, so it's definitely great. Tonight was great, too, a great team win.
We did have our up and downs but we still adversed -- fought adversity, yeah.
Q. How do you take this win though, something like this at home and take it on the road against this Arkansas State team?
GAVIN POTTER: We just got to keep carrying the momentum just like we did during the game. We got to carry that momentum to the next game and just like we did all of fall camp. Just carried momentum, stacked those days, and just got better throughout fall camp.
And then just led up to this game. Everybody felt fresh, ready to go. Just got to carry it on to the next one.
