CHICAGO FIRE MEDIA CONFERENCE

August 26, 2023

Chris Brady

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Press Conference

LA Galaxy 3, Chicago Fire FC 0

Q. Just a tough loss for y'all tonight, curious how you feel that one went and how the feeling was in the locker room afterwards?

CHRIS BRADY: Yeah, all of us are obviously disappointed.

Yeah, 3-0 is not kind of what we expected this game to be like, what we planned it to be like. I felt like the energy coming into the game was very positive. The first, 10, 15, 20 minutes were very good, back and forth, both teams had chances but I felt like we were still in it.

It's unfortunate, the red card; I'm not so sure that was one, but you know, you've got to deal with it, and even throughout the beginning of the first -- or beginning and the end the first half, I felt like we still had chances and still had opportunities to get back in the game.

For us, the key was in the second half not conceding that second goal because then the second goal leads to the third, and the second goal leads to more chances.

So for us, the big thing was not conceding the second half and keeping the spirits high and unfortunately after we conceded the second, some of the guys just -- I mean, we all just kind of dropped our heads, which is something we can't be doing on the road.

The belief, no matter what the score line is, always has to be there and just wasn't our night, yeah, that's all.

Q. This is now -- you guys are tied with the league lead in send-offs, red cards, however you want them to be. How does that affect you as a keeper? Does it affect you at all? Obviously there's the mental effect on the team whenever something like that happens but I'm just curious how you take in that occurrence.

CHRIS BRADY: You touched on the first part was how it affects the team. I think that's the biggest thing is when you lose a guy, how do you adapt quickly on the field to make sure that, you know, ten men are able to do the job of 11.

But for me as a keeper, I think just the biggest change for me would be removing whichever player got the red card out of the tactics and improvising. So you're down a man on the field but you're also down a man on set piece, corner, free kick, all of it. So you've got to kind of think quick on your feet.

I know when Gastón went out, there were a few changes we had to make for defensive set pieces, so that was probably the biggest thing for me, and typically is.

Hopefully we don't have to deal with any more red cards throughout the season, but yea, that's the biggest thing for me and my defense when a player gets sent off. FastScripts by ASAP Sports ...
