CHICAGO FIRE MEDIA CONFERENCE
September 28, 2022
Chicago, Illinois, USA
Press Conference
Q. With two games left in the season, out of the playoffs, what do you want the team to get out of these last two matches and what do you want to get out of them personally?
CARLOS TERAN: First of all, good afternoon. We know we committed a number of errors during the season and we have paid for those and that's why we aren't in the playoffs but we also know that the tournament, the season isn't over until the very final whittle in the last game, and so we're going to go out there and work hard and continue to work hard the way we've been doing the whole season because we have to finish strong. It's not over yet and so we have to respond just like the professional players that we are.
Q. So this past week, your countryman and teammate Jhon Duran made his international debut for Colombia. What was that like to watch the guy you've been training this this season play for your national team and have you spoken with him since then?
CARLOS TERAN: For me, it's a real point of ride. I'm really proud of him because as you said, he's not only my teammate but he's also my compatriote and he's also a player that I've known ever since he was 11 or 10 years old, something like that, and so I'm really proud of him because aside from that, I also know all of the hard work that he's put into being able to get these call-ups and be placed in these situations. I've seen how much he's fought and how hard he's worked. God is helping him and giving him what he deserves. I'm just really proud and I ask God that He keeps places him in these situations and hemming him out in these ways so that he continues to grow in his career. This is really good for him and he really deserves it because he's a great player.
Q. Since you've been with the Chicago Fire, you've had issues staying on the field and saying healthy. Why do you think that is and what do you think you can do to avoid that in 2023?
CARLOS TERAN: Since I've about the here, I've had some physical injuries, things that have been bothering me, and it's been reflected. You've seen it on the field. So we're working day-to-day and we're working with our team, our group, individually, and I'm getting better. I feel better and I hope that in 2023, I can continue to get better and improve so that I can be on the field more. I can get more minutes and be there with my teammates working hard.
Q. Can you talk about how the people of Chicago fill out the stadiums and support the team?
CARLOS TERAN: Honestly, I have been pleasantly surprised and really surprised with how the people of Chicago come out and really support us from the beginning. I know that despite not having always given them the best results on the field, they have come out and they have continued to support us and they have demonstrated that they are behind us 100 percent, and really, you see that they are people who like football, who like their team and who support their own, and it's very motivating for us, and it helps us want to go out and fight hard and keep working hard for the people who come out and support us on the field because that's why they are -- they are the reason why we defend this crest and we defend these colors, so I really more than anything, I'm just grateful and I hope to continue to improve so that we can give the fans the joy that they deserve for their continued support and I wanted to say thank you to everyone and to the City of Chicago and to all the people who come out to the games and continue to support us in all those matches.
