LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB MEDIA CONFERENCE

August 4, 2021

Danny Musovski

Press Conference

Sporting KC 4, LAFC 1

Q. Danny, I know it's a frustrating loss. What did you see in the second half and what Bob asked of you guys that came in to try to change what had happened in the first half?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Yeah, Bob just told us, the subs, to come in with good energy. He told me to press high and press Melia whenever he had the ball. So that was kind of what I was just thinking defensively I need to do.

And obviously offensively I just tried to put myself in good positions to score and be dangerous. That's my job is to score goals and create chances for the team, whether it's a goal or an assist.

That's what I was trying to do when I went in, luckily I was able to get one but the results is disappointing.

Q. Bob mentioned your goal as one of the positives and just the way that you've been having to fight to earn your spot and just grow as a player, what did it mean for you personally?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: As a striker, it always feels good to score; you want to score to win. I think we were down by a lot when I came in. I think it was 4-0. So I was just trying to do the best I can and create as many chances.

And yeah, the year hasn't been easy, but you know, that's part of being a professional is pushing through all these tough times and then trying to make the most of your chance when you get on the field. So I'm glad I was able to get that first goal. But I wish I could have done more.

Q. What do you think is going to be the most important thing in order to turn things around now that you guys are going to have three away games in a row?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Exactly. You know, three away games in a row, that's going to be tough. We had three home games in a row, so that was nice to try to grab points. Obviously we didn't do well with this stretch, so all you could do is try to bounce back now.

Yeah, it's going to be tough but need to be sharper. We need to produce more offense. We also need to clean it up in the defense. I mean, there's a lot of things. I can't just name like one or two things. It's a lot of things that we need to work on but I know as a squad, we have a strong team. We have strong leaders on our team.

So you know, we're just going to work hard through this stretch in training and work on fixing those little thing and hopefully bounce back.

Q. Besides the result, congratulations on the goal. It was a great first shot. Can you describe us your perspective?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Yeah, I saw Cheeky just got the ball in midfield and he looked up, so that's what I took off and I knew I was close to the goal. So I knew Melia was outstretched for it and I shot it on target and it went through his legs and went in. Yeah, that was my perspective.

Q. And as part of the result, how does scoring help your confidence as a player?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Like I said, as a striker it's always good to score. It helps. And you want to score to win. Today we didn't do that so it's a little bit hard to feel good about it. I just kind of feel indifferent really at the moment. But I think looking from the outside, it is pretty good to score.

Q. I know you talked about it's not the result you wanted. I wanted to ask you more of a personal question, obviously the year's been different from you compared to last year. Last year you got more opportunities with the team. This year, you're going back and forth between Las Vegas Lights and obviously LAFC. How has that transition been for you personally?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Personally when I go there, I'm there to get minutes and stay fit so that when I do play for LAFC I'm ready to go. I think today was a good example. I felt sharp. I felt good. My fitness felt fine. So I think it's good when I do go there.

But obviously as a player it's hard transitioning between teams, learning chemistry between the different players, and that's the challenge of it. For being a pro, that's the challenge, you need to learn from each game, whether it's the Lights or whether it's here. Yeah, I'm just glad that I scored.

Q. I know you almost had an opportunity on the second goal. Do you feel like you touched it a little too hard or what happened on the second opportunity?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: Yeah, Falk (ph) laid a great ball in. He played it right over the defender's head. The defender actually ended up touching it a little bit and it threw off my initial first touch. I think I did pretty good to bring it down.

I tried to hit it lighter and I hit it too hard and I got too much on it and it went over. I'm not happy about that one but as a striker it's on to the next play.

Q. We know that the result wasn't what LAFC wanted, but just want to ask you, what do this team need to fix before the next match and what was the situation that this result? What does LAFC need to fix for the next match?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: I think that's a tough question to name one or two things we need to fix. I think it's a lot of things we just need to sharpen up on and get better with: Be cleaner on the ball. Don't go down early. And then when we go down early, to allow the second and third goal, I think that just hurt us. It gave them momentum and it kind of took away a little bit of hours.

I think it's tough to say. If we had all the answers, things would be going better but we're trying to search and find and push through a rough stretch. At the end of it, we are hoping to get good results.

Q. What happened on the first goal when Pulido scored?

DANNY MUSOVSKI: I haven't seen a replay of it but it just looked like they collided. So until I see a replay, I can't really say too much about it.
