LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS MEDIA CONFERENCE
June 14, 2021
Los Angeles, California, USA
Postgame Press Conference
Los Angeles Clippers 118, Utah Jazz 104.
Q. Marcus, what do you guys see from Pat out there, four blocks tonight and it seems like he's really aggressive. Pick-and-roll defense coming around the screens and contesting?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: First of all just his leadership, how vocal he is, how locked in he is for a guy that hasn't been in play in the first round to still be that locked in and still be very helpful for the team if he's playing or not playing that, shows a lot about his character. He's just playing with tremendous energy, very vocal and one of the leaders on our team.
Q. Anything change for you in the last couple of games? Seemed like you really found your vibe and your energy and your stroke tonight on the floor, especially in the first half?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: You make some, you miss some. You know, it's game-by-game. It's the playoffs. I'm just staying in the moment trying to be there for my team. It's basketball, man. You're going to get hot and you're going to get some shots. But it's about staying level and not getting too down on yourself and just continue to go forward. If I'm not getting shots on the court, hey, do something else on the court that's going to show my impact. It's not just about making threes; it's about being a presence for my team. Some games present different things.
Q. Any chance Markieff is going to come would you guys to Utah?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: No, won't be coming to Utah. I don't know if anybody want to go to Utah. He's going to stick it out here in L.A. and we'll see him when we come back.
Q. Your teammates and Ty the last few games, sounds like they kept on and you to keep your spirits up or whatever, what was that like?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: You know, really wasn't too much. Any time guys aren't making a number of shots, you say one or two things, but it wasn't really a lot. I work hard myself and I put a lot on my game and my experience. Like I said, miss or make, I'm still in it. I'm not going to keep missing; I'll tell you that.
Q. A lot has been made of this team's resolve coming back from being down, and Ty has talked about how this was built during the regular season through injuries and playing well. When you look back on the regular season or even the playoffs, are there moments where you predicted how this might happen and how this team's resilience would come through?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Definitely. We've been playing injured all year. We've had guys in and out of lineup. The best thing about our team is our depth. We really have 11, 12, maybe 13 guys we can throw in there and guys are ready. You know, what's what we've been hanging our hat on is our depth all season is coming to help us when we really need it the most.
Q. What did you guys find in these last two games that you didn't have in Utah that you will be taking with you to Utah?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: You know, once you watch film and kind of break down what the other team doing, it helps a lot. We always say this is chess, not checkers. It's about critiquing the game and figuring out what works for us and like I said, every series is going to present something different. We both took care of business at home and now it's going to be the first one to hopefully win a game on the road, for us, anyway.
Q. I wanted to know with Nic playing more at the five, not as many minutes with a big like Zu, how have you adjusted with that physically, banging with Gobert, playing with the low man, how have you adjusted?
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Me personally, playing the five, man, shoot, a lot of cold-tubbing, a lot of massages. I'm up for the challenge. One through five, I think that's the best thing of our team outside of our depth is our versatility. To play all season with a true big and then enter the playoffs and go small, that's a testament to our team; and we're doing it well, we've picked it up well and we're running with it.
Q. Curious how the team has changed with Kawhi and PG taking more of a play-making role compared to the regular season.
MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Regular season is regular season. These guys understand that we need them to be the head of the snake and be super aggressive, miss or make, and we go as they go. They understand that. Guys have just been picking up the slack behind them, me, Reggie, Batum, guys coming off the bench has been playing really well for us. Those guys are our leaders and we go as they go and they understand that. They have been doing a great job of just attacking and finding the open man when they need to, and knowing when they need to be super aggressive.
